Blending dynamic live performances with innovative audience participation to create an exhilarating theatre experience that is different at every showing.
The play began life in a black box studio in Shrewsbury after a group of like-minded creatives met through a weekly improvisation class, formed SpellBound Productions, and began workshopping characters.
Creative Director, Polly Wolf originated the concept of a reimagined fairytale incorporating ‘audience choice’ elements and began writing the opening acts of what was to become Cinderella Retold.
Writer, Hannah Schwarzer developed the script, creating a dazzling ensemble-driven play – complemented by Polly Wolf’s beautiful original score – drawing inspiration from fairytale lore, pantomime tradition, Shakespeare and the world of role-player gaming.
The show previewed in September 2025 and wowed guests with its unique twist: At Cinderella Retold,
the audience are in charge!
Within the framework of a deliciously dark and comic reimagining of the classic tale, Cinderella Retold invites the audience to ‘play god’ by choosing what happens next from a variety of options at various points during the performance.
Their decisions then shape the course of the play and define its finale, creating a theatre experience like never before.
